The great Rohtang Pass in Manali is situated at an altitude of 4000 metres approximate on the highway to Keylong in Himachal and is visited mainly for adventure snow sports activities like snow skiing, paragliding, zorbing and trekking etc. Rohtang pass snow point and the Rohla falls are on the way to Rohtang Pass from Manali and are worth visiting. The mass affords a wide-spread panorama of mountain scenery at Rohtang Pass.A lofty mountain pathway that connects Kullu with Sapiti and Lahul is a popular picnic spot in summer. Almost all tourists to Manali longs to visit this imposing site since one can sense and tap the snow even in the hottest season of the year at Rohtang Pass. Rohtang Pass placed at a height of 4000 meter approximate, Rohtang Pass in the district of Kullu commands the striking views of glaciers, mountains and the landscape. A gateway to the adjoining tourist destination, this scenic spot provides excellent opportunities for trekking. The Beas river rises near the crest of Rohtang from a block of Mica-Schist. To its left, 200 metres higher, is the little lake of 'Sarkund' (Dashahr ) visited by a large number of people every year. The bath in the water of Sarkund lake effects cure of all bodily ailments or imaginary. The pass is open from June to October each year although trekkers can cross it earlier. It is the gateway to Lahaul-Spiti, Pangi and Leh valley.Rohtang Pass presents the convoluted molds of snowy barbs originating from a massive glacier that had slither down. From here, the dense woody forests become visible as tiny grasslands. Trekking to Rohtang Pass is an exploratory expedition that bears out attractive mountain peaks with the spectacular view of menacing crags stringed by silvery cascades. Depending upon the snowfall in the upper regions, Rohtang Pass opens at anytime during the month of June for travel and a seal in October.The tedious journey is often dangerous owing to the high velocity wind and the unpredictable snowfall.

Solang Valley[ Great snow valley of Kullu Manali , India ]
Solang Nullah is in a side valley at the top of the Kullu valley. It is the site of Manali’s ski school and, once the snow has gone, all the local paragliding 'schools'. Phatru is a steep, rocky face above Solang Nullah, facing roughly east. Take-off is about one hour’s climb above the ski school. There is no top landing, but good bottom landing near the school or in the fields above Solang village on the opposite side of the river. From 10am until 1pm or so there are many excellent thermal sources. In the afternoon the sun is often hidden by cloud forming on the higher mountains behind and it can get rough as soon as it is out of direct sun. In a picturesque setting this has good ski sloped and picnic spots. HPTDC organises ski packages during winter. Around 14 kms from Manali, is the Solang valley, that boasts of the glacier nearest to the resort.
